
Former Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, who represented Delta North Senatorial District, has been reported dead at the age of 68.
The death of the former lawmaker was confirmed on Friday by the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori.
In a condolence message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor described Nwaoboshi as “a proud son of Delta State and a courageous defender of the Anioma cause.”
Governor Oborevwori said the late senator’s contributions to nation-building and the political development of Delta State would remain indelible, noting his years of dedicated service to the people.
Also confirming the death, the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, paid tribute to Nwaoboshi in a Facebook post.
“I just lost my senior brother, boss, leader, and friend, Distinguished Senator Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi,” he wrote.
Akpowowo added, “While I mourn with his immediate family, the Nwaboshis, Ibusa community, Oshimili North, and the entire Delta State, I pray the Almighty God to accept his soul and grant him eternal rest.”
Nwaoboshi was a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), having served as Senator for Delta North and twice as Chairman of the party in Delta State, where he played a key role in strengthening its structure.
