Nigerian singer Raoul Nkeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, is enjoying a surprise resurgence of his 2015 hit single Shake Body, nearly a decade after its initial release. The song has gone viral again, driven by a viral TikTok dance video by 17-year-old Spanish football star Lamine Yamal.
The FC Barcelona wonderkid was seen dancing to Shake Body in a clip that quickly spread across social media, especially on TikTok, introducing the track to a new generation of music lovers and propelling it back into public consciousness.
Another factor behind the track’s renewed popularity is a recent remix by Dutch DJ Onderkoffer. Skales shared this version online, and within just 10 hours, it had garnered almost 200,000 streams—without any playlist promotion.
Reacting to the development, Skales expressed his excitement and gratitude via social media. “This is crazy! With the momentum of Shake Body trending again, I decided to officially release this DJ remix I heard in Europe last year and in 10 hours, it’s already almost 200k streams with no form of playlist support, that’s craaazy… thank you Jesus!!! God indeed works in mysterious ways,” he wrote.
Online reactions have been equally enthusiastic, with many fans celebrating the song’s comeback and Skales’ perseverance in the music industry.
A TikTok user, Onizwise, commented, “This when God remember Skales go remember me and you.”
Another user, Guappo, added, “Skales don try honestly, he deserves dis. I don’t know why d industry black balled him just lyk dat.”
