
The Sokoto state government has hailed the Managing Director/CEO of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, Engr. Garba Haruna for his unrelenting commitment towards the development of education in the state.
The State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr. Kulu Haruna Abubakar, made this known in Sokoto during the 61st anniversary of Government Technical College, Farfaru, Sokoto, according to a statement signed by the Kaduna Electric Head of Corporate Communication, Malam Abdulazeez Abdullahi.
He said the Commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Gidadawa, applauded the electricity boss for renovating the school multi-purpose hall, four blocks of students hostel and provision of 180 double-decker beds and mattresses.
Similarly, the Sokoto state Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has approved the renaming of the school’s hall as Engr. Garba Haruna Hall.
The Governor conveyed the approval through the Permanent Secretary, Sokoto state Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Alhaji Muhammad Mainasara.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, who was represented by the Magajin Rafin Sokoto, Alhaji Rilwanu Bello called on old boys of the collage and other well meaning citizens to emulate the selfless service of Engr. Garba by supporting their Alma maters in particular and the educational sector in general.
Some old boys of the institution were later presented with merit awards among whom are Engr. Garba Haruna, the immediate past Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotun Idris and one of the Sokoto Sultanate kingmakers, Galadiman Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Aliyu Attahiru.
