Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo on Monday began his second term as governor of Anambra State with a renewed pledge to accelerate development and position the state as Africa’s version of “Dubai, Taiwan and Silicon Valley.”
Speaking during his inauguration at Alex Ekwueme Square on March 17, 2026, Soludo described his re-election as a “historic mandate” following the 73 percent vote he secured in the November governorship election.
The governor said the massive support from residents reflected widespread approval of his administration’s development agenda.
“We are gathered here not merely to mark the inauguration of a second term but to celebrate Ndi Anambra for their partnership in rebuilding our homeland,” he said.
Soludo reiterated his long-standing vision to transform Anambra into an African Dubai–Taiwan–Silicon Valley (ADTS) by building a strong commercial hub, industrial base and technology ecosystem.
According to him, the strategy is rooted in Anambra’s entrepreneurial culture, strategic location and vibrant business environment, especially in cities like Onitsha and Nnewi.
He also highlighted achievements recorded during his first four years in office, including improvements in security, road construction, urban regeneration and education.
The governor said his administration dismantled more than 60 criminal camps and restored normal economic activities across the state, including the end of the Monday sit-at-home disruptions.
Soludo further noted that nearly 3,000 kilometres of roads had been constructed or rehabilitated while public schools had been strengthened with the recruitment of over 8,000 teachers.
In the health sector, he said the state introduced free antenatal care and delivery services in public hospitals, benefiting more than 200,000 women.
Looking ahead, the governor said his second term would focus on accelerating reforms under what he described as “Gear 4.0 governance,” prioritizing security, electricity, infrastructure and long-term urban planning.
“Our gaze is not on the next election but on the next generation,” Soludo said.
He also emphasized the importance of restoring ethical values among youths, warning against the growing culture of wealth without work.
Soludo concluded by calling on all political stakeholders to support his administration in building a prosperous future for the state.
