Teacher Shocked as Primary School Girl Labels Her “Ashawo” for Wearing Short Dress

A female teacher was left stunned after one of her pupils openly called her an “ashawo” (prostitute) for wearing a short dress to school.

In the video recorded by the teacher, she could be heard asking the pupil, who is between 5 to 7 years why she made such a remark, but the girl felt reluctant to reply.

Social media users have since reacted with mixed feelings. While some found the moment funny, others expressed concern over how young pupils are exposed to adult language and behavior.

One user wrote, “The teacher is nice o… Na so e dey start, she has obviously seen her mum judge some aunty adugbo because dem fine pass am, these kids are a reflection of their parents.”

Another one wrote, “What kids utter is a reflection of what their parents and friends discuss.”

Someone cautioned the teacher. She said, “We expected discipline, not physical punishment. Sharing this video was irresponsible, especially since the child’s face is visible. Teachers should maintain professionalism, not create disturbing content.🤦‍♀️”

“As much as social media is a tool to share, doctor-patient and teacher-pupil interactions are interactions we shouldn’t be uploading on the internet. I don’t want to know what my child might have said in school, but uploading her to the whole wide world is where I draw the line. I don’t even care that you scarcely “blurred” her face, you and your employers will hear from me,” another one added.

The video has got netizens talking about children’s exposure to social media and the type of words they pick up from adults around them. Where do you think such a young girl heard that word from?
