There was tension at the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) this morning as staff locked up offices and staged a walkout in protest against an attempt by Senator Samuel Anyanwu to forcefully enter the office of the National Secretary.

Anyanwu, who arrived at the secretariat reportedly with suspected thugs, was resisted by staff loyal to the National Working Committee (NWC), which had earlier directed Hon. Setonji Koshodeo to act as National Secretary.

Vowing not to recognize Anyanwu in that role, the workers shut down operations and vacated the premises, leaving the senator stranded and visibly embarrassed. Sources said his aides eventually advised him to leave to avoid further humiliation.
