Tension in Abuja as Finance Minister Allegedly Collapses Over Coup Plot “Kill List”

Wale Edun

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, has reportedly been flown to London for medical treatment after allegedly collapsing upon seeing a purported “kill list” linked to a suspected coup plot aimed at overthrowing President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

A senior government insider told reporters that Edun fainted after being shown the list, which was said to have been compiled by a group of military officers allegedly plotting to violently topple the government.

Although initial denials were issued about his trip abroad, Edun was later sighted in London, where he appeared frail and walked unsteadily while attending an art show — footage which surfaced online as “proof of life.”

Two weeks ago, the minister himself confirmed that he had travelled to the United Kingdom for medical care, following days of conflicting reports. Sources close to his office described his condition as “very serious.”

The development comes amid heightened tension within the military over an alleged coup plot. SaharaReporters recently revealed that several officers were detained by military intelligence for their alleged involvement in plans to destabilize the government around the October 1 Independence Day celebrations.

While military authorities claimed the arrests were related to “repeated failure in promotion examinations and perceived career stagnation,” sources within the security establishment maintained that the detentions were directly tied to a foiled coup plan.

The arrests reportedly followed weeks of covert surveillance and coordinated operations involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
