A gas attendant has expressed deep concern over the worsening economic hardship facing many Nigerians under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following an encounter with a young girl who came to refill her gas cylinder with just ₦500.
According to the attendant, the girl’s request highlighted the growing level of poverty and desperation among citizens, as the amount is barely enough to purchase a meaningful quantity of cooking gas.
“People are really suffering under Tinubu’s government,” the attendant said. “This girl came to fill her gas cylinder with ₦500. I felt bad for her because what will ₦500 gas do for her? Nigerians can no longer afford to even buy gas to cook in their homes.”
The attendant noted that such incidents have become increasingly common, with many customers now buying gas in very small quantities due to the rising cost of living, inflation, and increased energy prices.
Since the removal of fuel subsidy and other economic reforms, the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has continued to rise, forcing many households to cut back on usage or return to firewood and charcoal for cooking.
