Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, Tiwa Savage, has marked the 12th anniversary of her debut album, Once Upon a Time, expressing deep gratitude to her fans and reflecting on her journey so far.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Savage described the album as the foundation of many milestones in her career, adding that it remains an emotional moment for her even after more than a decade.

She wrote, “Wow…. My debut album ‘Once upon a time’ turns 12 years already??

“This album was the beginning of so many milestones for me. It’s actually very emotional for me but I’m so grateful to God, and to every single person that’s stood by me since day one.”

Released in 2013, ‘Once Upon a Time’ featured hits like Kele Kele Love, Love Me, Love Me, Love Me, and Eminado, songs that established Savage as one of Africa’s leading female voices in music.

The Somebody’s Son crooner also used the anniversary to announce a forthcoming project, describing it as a raw and authentic body of work, free from the pressures of industry trends and streaming numbers.

She added, “I poured my heart into it and now, 12 years later, I’m still here, still standing and ready to release another iconic body of work.

A project that’s raw, creating something I’ve always wanted to make not influenced by streams or trends, just like my first album. This journey has come full circle. Thank you to my amazing soldiers for riding with me. Still feels like the beginning, maybe because the best is still yet to come ….“
