Trump Reacts to Death of Turning Point USA Leader Charlie Kirk

Trump and Charlie Kirk

U.S. President Donald Trump has paid tribute to Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who was fatally shot during a campus event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, September 10. Kirk was 31.

In a heartfelt statement posted on Truth Social, Trump described Kirk as “a patriot, who devoted his life to the cause of open debate, and the country that he loved so much—the United States of America.”

Trump went on to highlight Kirk’s religious convictions, saying, “Charlie was also a man of deep, deep faith and we take comfort in the knowledge that he is now in peace with God in heaven.”

Quoting from Scripture, Trump referenced II Timothy 4:7-8: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”

The shooting, which occurred during Turning Point USA’s “American Comeback Tour,” left the conservative youth movement reeling. Law enforcement officials confirmed that the suspect remains at large, and a manhunt is ongoing.

Kirk, who co-founded Turning Point USA in 2012, had become a central figure in conservative politics, particularly on college campuses. He is survived by his wife, Erika, and their two children.
