Former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba has again reacted to the deletion of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet by Twitter. On Tuesday, President Buhari via his verified Twitter handle made reference to the Civil war and threatened to ‘treat those misbehaving in the language they understand’.
However, many Nigerians faulted the President’s words, citing his reference to the civil war – which resulted into the death of millions of Nigerians mostly the Igbos — as a threat to commit human rights violations.
The microblogging site later deleted the President’s statement on Wednesday following public outrage, stating that the tweet violated the Twitter rules.
Meanwhile, Adamu Garba also reacted to the deletion of the President’s tweet by Twitter.
In a post made on his Twitter handle, Adamu said Twitter had no right to infuse into the country’s political affairs. He says Twitter is a company and not a government. Speaking further, he said by removing President Buhari’s speech, Twitter needs to shutdown from Nigerian internet space.
His words; ‘Twitter has no right to infuse into our local political affairs. It’s a company not a government. By removing out democratically elected President’s speech to the people of Nigeria,Twitter needs to shutdown from Nigerian Internet space. Twitter needs to get out of Nigeria’.
