Bandits on Tuesday afternoon launched a deadly attack along the Wanke–Bawa Ganga road near Kwaren-ganuwa community in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing two people and abducting several civilians.
Sources in the area reported that the attackers moved in large numbers, blocking the road and targeting travellers and nearby residents. During the assault, the bandits extorted large sums of money from locals, set vehicles and motorcycles ablaze, and abducted the owner of one of the vehicles.
The latest incident adds to the rising wave of violence across the Northwest, where communities have remained vulnerable to repeated attacks. Residents say bandits continue to operate with little resistance, carrying out killings, kidnappings and destruction of property.
