UEFA has imposed financial penalties on five major European clubs for violations of Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. The governing body of European football announced the fines following an in-depth financial review of the clubs’ recent spending and accounting practices.
Breakdown of the Fines:
- Chelsea (England): €20 million
- Barcelona (Spain): €15 million
- Lyon (France): €12.5 million
- Aston Villa (England): €11 million
- AS Roma (Italy): €3 million
According to UEFA, the clubs were found guilty of failing to comply with sustainability and cost control requirements aimed at promoting financial stability across European football. The fines reflect the severity of each club’s breach.
UEFA stated that the penalties are part of its ongoing commitment to enforcing financial discipline and ensuring a level playing field in European competitions. Clubs may also face further sanctions if they fail to meet compliance targets set for the coming seasons.
