Viral Video Sparks Outrage Over Alleged Failed Road Project Linked to Reps Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu

Benjamin Kalu

A video posted by X (formerly Twitter) user @obiasogu David has gone viral on social media, drawing public attention to the poor condition of a road in Ozuitem community, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, allegedly constructed by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu.

In the post, the user described the road as a project carried out for Kalu’s community, noting that while a significant portion of the road remains uncompleted, sections that were reportedly already constructed have collapsed and been washed away in less than six months. The video footage shows eroded and damaged parts of the road, rendering it difficult to use.

The post was accompanied by strongly worded criticism, with the X user referring to the lawmaker as “the so-called House of Reps Deputy Speaker” and questioning his leadership credentials, especially amid growing speculation that Kalu may contest the Abia State governorship election in 2027.

Adding to the controversy, voices heard in the background of the video are seen calling on Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, to urgently come to the community’s rescue, appealing for government intervention to address the deteriorating road and alleviate the hardship faced by residents.
