The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to service-driven governance, stressing that leadership must be rooted in stewardship rather than self-interest.
Speaking at a public event, Otti said he personally views leadership as a responsibility to serve the people, warning that governance becomes self-serving when the principle of stewardship is removed.
“I personally see leadership as service. Anytime you take away stewardship from leadership, it becomes self-serving,” the governor stated.
He noted that ongoing development efforts in Umuahia are still at an early stage, emphasizing that his administration is only just beginning its transformation agenda for the state capital.
According to him, the government is not engaged in comparisons with other cities, but is focused on building a version of Umuahia that reflects its own identity and potential.
“The transformation of Umuahia is still at its early stage; we are just starting and not comparing ourselves with anybody,” he said.
Otti added that his vision is to develop a modern and functional capital city without attempting to replicate foreign cities.
“I want to make Umuahia look like Umuahia, not Dubai,” he said.
The governor reiterated his administration’s focus on sustainable infrastructure development and institutional reforms aimed at improving the quality of life for residents across Abia State.
