We’ve Been Left to Defend Ourselves, Says Harrison Gwamnishu Amid Rising Insecurity

Harrison Gwamnishu has sounded a stark warning about the deteriorating security situation, saying that ordinary citizens are increasingly forced to fend for themselves.

“With the way things are going, it’s painful to admit, but every man now feels he needs something anything to protect himself. Because who is coming to save us? Nobody,” Gwamnishu lamented.

He expressed deep frustration at what he described as government inaction. “We cry, we shout, we beg, yet nothing changes. Our government watches while innocent people suffer, and it breaks my heart. The neglect, the silence, the abandonment it’s too much for any community to bear,” he said.

Gwamnishu emphasized that the poorest members of society continue to bear the brunt of attacks, highlighting a stark divide in government priorities. “The sad reality is that they keep targeting the poorest of the poor, and that’s exactly why those in government are unbothered. But the day these criminals strike places of real value, that’s when our selfish leaders will suddenly wake up and start equipping our local security,” he warned.

“All we want is safety. All we want is protection. But right now, it feels like we’ve been left to defend ourselves,” he added.
