Arise TV anchor, Dr. Reuben Abati, has criticised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over remarks he made yesterday about Peter Obi and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Wike had claimed that Obi’s return to the PDP would destroy the party, arguing that the former Anambra governor lacked the character to come back after previously describing the PDP as rotten.
Abati countered that Wike is in no position to speak about character, insisting that his own actions had already weakened the PDP. He also faulted the minister for making comments about former President Goodluck Jonathan and other politicians, questioning his moral standing to continually disparage others.
The veteran broadcaster further accused sections of the Nigerian media of giving Wike undue airtime to attack political opponents without offering those mentioned a right of reply, warning that journalists must resist being compromised for monetary reasons.
