The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) has strongly condemned the recent massacre in Kwara State and the renewed wave of deadly attacks in Zamfara State, describing them as tragic reminders of the worsening insecurity across Nigeria.
Reports indicate that in early February 2026, armed assailants invaded communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, particularly Woro and Nuku villages, killing scores of innocent citizens, burning homes, and displacing families. The scale of the violence has left entire communities traumatized and in mourning.
Similarly, on 20 February 2026, gunmen reportedly attacked communities in Zamfara State, killing dozens of civilians and abducting women and children. These repeated assaults on vulnerable rural populations reflect a deeply troubling security situation that requires immediate and decisive intervention.
YAN expresses sympathy to the bereaved families and stands in solidarity with all affected communities. The continuous loss of innocent lives in Kwara, Zamfara, and other parts of the country is unacceptable.
More worrisome is the periodic attack on our beloved Nigerian soldiers by terrorists.
It is more disheartening that His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not taken any proactive measure to forestall future occurrences of this ugly tragedy and as the unbiased voice of Nigerian youths, it is time to take the bull by the horn hence, our call for a national peaceful demonstration in Abuja tagged ” Enough of the Killings… it is time for the Commander in Chief of the Armed forces to take decisive actions against insecurity”.
This demonstration which will have 300 YAN member participants from each state is to.awaken the consciousness of Mr President to know that Nigerians are been killed on daily basis as the billions of naira been received by state governors makes no significant difference.
In view of the above, all state structures of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) have been Mandated to start mobilising 300 members per state ahead of Thursday 27th February, 2026 as the board of trustees has given their backing.
Nigeria can not continue on this path of recurring bloodshed. The protection of lives and property is the foremost duty of government. The time for decisive, strategic and coordinated action is now.
We can’t continue loosing our soldiers and citizens on daily basis to terrorists and bandits.
Enough is Enough!
Signed:
Rt. Hon. Famuyibo Oluwasegun
National Speaker,
Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN)
