The Nigeria Police Force says operatives of the Force Intelligence Department’s Special Tactical Squad (STS) have arrested five suspects over the alleged killing of a former community chairman in Ikem Nando, Anambra State.
According to the police, investigations suggest the incident was linked to a dispute over the management of approximately ₦39 million generated from community land sales. Detectives further allege that the suspects used Ketamine Hydrochloride, a restricted veterinary sedative, to incapacitate the victim, Emmanuel Nwanneniya, during the attack.
Police also allege that ₦2 million was transferred from the victim’s bank account after the incident, and that investigators uncovered a separate failed plot to abduct the community’s traditional ruler.
The arrests followed months of intelligence gathering, surveillance, and digital tracking by the STS. The investigation remains ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face further legal proceedings. As with all criminal cases, the allegations remain subject to determination by the courts.
