The President of Youth Advocates For Peace Justice And Empowerment Network, Amb. Timothy C.* *Nwachukwu has condemned in strong terms the mismanagement of the sum of Ten Million by the Student Union Government*
*President of Ebonyi State University. (Ebsu).*
The Activitist described as disheartening the report credited to the president of the Student Union Government of Ebonyi State University over the account he tendered on respect to the sums given to him by Engr. David Umahi the student friendly governor of Ebonyi State, for the welfare of the Ebsu students.
*It was reported that the Governor gave 10 million naira to Ogbu to give to students however, According to Ogbu, The SUG president who gave a breakdown of how he spent the sums to include :-*
*4 million naira for repair of SUG Buses*
*2 million naira was shared between the SUG officials*
*1.5 million naira was used to appreciate undisclosed body*
*2.5 million naira was used to settle cult clash.*
Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu bemoaned the extravagant spending by the students Leadership as unbecoming of supposed leaders of tomorrow.
*De Peoples Advocate has called on the Vice Chancellor of Ebonyi State University to set up an independent panel to probe the mismanagement of the resources as majority of the students whose welfare the governor had in mind while making the donation are currently going through untold hardship and difficulties ranging from inability to pay relevant fees, transportation challenges among others.*
*The Human Right Activitist noted that such trend if unchecked will set a bad precedent to students unionism.*
The Advocate further lamented the manner of life some Students leaders have choosen to lead. It’s unfortunate, that some Student Union leaders have penchant for lavishing the collective resources of the students on female Students in different hotel.
The Activitist further appreciated the students who stood up against the impunity of the students leaders by protesting over the mismanagement of their collective resources.
