Nigeria has been ranked the fourth most t+rrorism-affected country in the world, according to the latest Global Te+rorism Index (GTI) report, which recorded a significant rise in violent incidents and fatalities across the country in 2025.
The report revealed that terr+rist att@cks increased sharply during the year, with the number of recorded incidents climbing to 171, marking a notable rise compared to the previous year. Fatalities linked to terr+rism also surged, reflecting worsening security challenges despite ongoing counter-terr+rism efforts.
Analysts attributed the increase to intensified activities by extremist groups and expanding violence in affected regions, contributing to Nigeria’s higher global ranking. The findings place Nigeria among countries experiencing the most severe impacts of terr+rism worldwide, based on factors such as attacks, deaths, injuries, and overall societal impact.
