The Osun State Government has reiterated that Governor Ademola Adeleke properly informed the citizens of his scheduled working vacation in Europe and Asia.
This vacation marks the first time the governor has taken a break since assuming office.
The government’s statement comes after reports circulating on Whatsapp and social media platforms about a statewide broadcast by Governor Adeleke were deemed fake.
Olalekan Badmus, the Special Assistant (New Media) to Governor Adeleke, confirmed that he did not issue the statement and urged the public to disregard the false information.
Badmus also revealed that the governor had directed the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi to brief the media on the one year landmark achievements of the administration on Monday, November 27 (today).
The statement reads, “Governor Adeleke had duly notified Osun people of his working vacation to Europe and Asia, the first time he would take a break since assuming the governorship seat.
“He has also directed the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi to brief the media on the one year landmark achievements of the administration this Monday 27th of November.
“The Governor had also stopped any celebration of the one year in office to conserve state resources and to keep in line with the challenging times currently facing the citizenry.”
AKELICIOUS had reported that the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State in a statement on Sunday had accused Governor Adeleke of lying about his whereabouts.
In a statement by Tajudeen Lawal, the Osun APC chairman, the party claimed that Governor Adeleke had been holidaying in the United States of America in the last two weeks.
Totally unacceptable, irresponsible and insensitive, how could a governor of a state put his vacation on his first year anniversary. That means we people of Osun have entered one chance. This dancing governor has no achievements to rendered.
