Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has stated that the Nigerian Armed Forces are fully committed to holding accountable any personnel responsible for the unintentional killing of 85 civilians in Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

During his first media appearance in Abuja, General Musa reassured the public that a thorough and independent investigation, directed by President Bola Tinubu, will be carried out to identify the individuals at fault.

He emphasized that severe sanctions will be imposed on those found guilty.

Expressing deep remorse over the tragic event, General Musa underscored the military’s dedication to transparency and affirmed that any officer implicated would face appropriate consequences.

General Musa urged the Nigerian people to exercise patience and wait for the investigation’s findings in order to fully comprehend the details of the incident.

“The incident in Kaduna is highly regrettable, it should not have been. Our mandate is to protect civilians, not to kill, maim or destroy.

“At that particular time, we were in the heat of pursuing some bandits within that general area and unfortunately this happened.

“I assure all Nigerians that the Armed Forces of Nigeria is here for Nigerians and we want Nigerians to take ownership of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,’’ Musa said.
