ISIAGU- Over Hundreds of widows and the elderly women of Isiagu Community in Awka South Local Government have benefitted from the Philanthropic Gestures initiated by Hon Chief Chigbogu Nweke (Nwanayoeze 1 of Isiagu) as a way of giving back to the society and thanking God Almighty for his mercies and Love upon his life and his family as He gave out Bags of Rice, wrappers, Tin tomatoes and Cash as well as supplements to enable them (Isiagu widows) to celebrate the Christmas with ease.
The event which took at his Palatial Residence in Isiagu saw many widows and elderly shedding tears of joy, thanking God and praising God for using Nwanayoeze to remember them this festival period.
Only last two weeks ago, Hon Chief Chigbogu Nweke awarded Scholarships to some indigent Students of the community.
In his remarks while presenting those items to the widows and Elderly women in Isiagu, Hon Chief Chigbogu Nweke said he embraced the culture of giving to the poor and the less privileged of the society because he also rose from grass to grace. “Putting smiles on people’s faces in all ramifications is in my blood, he said.
Sharing the experience about his humble background, Nwanayoeze said he was always willing to assist even before people demand assistance.
“Those who know me will testify to the fact that the act of giving has been part and parcel of me. Each time I remember what I went through as a child, I felt the only way to appreciate God for what he had done in my life is to give back to society. And this I have promised to sustain,” Hon Chief Nweke said.
The Women who could not contain their joys, prayed God for better health and protection for Nwanayoeze family in accordance with His wishes, to protect and guide him in all his going out and coming in.
The Highlights of the event was the presentation of food items, and wrappers to widows, Elderly and indigents Senior Citizens of Isiagu Community.
