In a ruling on Friday, the Supreme Court confirmed the election victory of Gov. Peter Mbah of Enugu State.

Justice Mohammed Garba, delivering the lead judgement, dismissed the allegation that Mbah did not possess a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, stating it as mere speculation.

The court addressed and resolved all the concerns raised in the appeal against the appellant, Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party.

Edeoga had challenged the decision of the Court of Appeal, which had previously dismissed his case against the governor’s election.

The unanimous decision by the three-member panel of the Lagos Division of the Appeal Court concluded that the appellant failed to provide evidence that the respondent was unqualified to run in the governorship election.

On the allegation of over voting, Hassan, in her lead judgment, held that the voters’ register was never placed before the lower tribunal, stressing that failure to tender the voters” register before the lower tribunal rendered the appeal inadmissible.
