PDP

Nine out of the 10 governorship aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo state have rejected the ward congresses conducted across the state to elect adhoc delegates ahead of the party primary on February 22, 2024.

Anselm Ojezua who addressed journalists in Benin City on behalf of the nine aggrieved aspirants, which include the State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, said that those assigned from the party’s National Secretariat to conduct the congress failed to hold meetings with the aspirants as stipulated in the party’s guidelines. He described the process as the worst in the conduct of party congresses.

The other aggrieved aspirants are Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, Ambassador Martin Uhomoibhi, Arthur Esene, Hadizat Umoru, Omosede Igbinedion, Felix Akhagbue and Osaro Onaiwu who was the only absentee as at the time of the briefing.

This may bring many troubles to the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, if the dispute is not properly managed.
