37-year-old man commits suicide in Kano as ex-wife remarries

A 37-year-old man has reportedly committed suicide on Danmusa Street in Gadon Kaya, Kano State, after discovering that his ex-wife had remarried.

According to reports, the young man is a security guard at Prestige International College, situated on Danmusa Street in Gadon Kaya, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.

Reports indicate that Shehu’s decision to end his life came shortly after learning that his ex-wife had remarried.

According to the State Commissioner of Police, CP Hussaini Gumel, the incident occurred on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, in the premises of Prestige International College.

It was Abdullahi Abdulsalam of Rijiyar Zaki who first raised the alarm, reporting that Shehu was found lifeless, having hanged himself with a rope in one of the college’s classrooms.

Upon receiving the distressing report, a team of policemen from the Gwale Division, under the leadership of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), swiftly responded to the scene.

They took immediate action, forcibly unlocking the classroom door, cutting the rope, and rushing Shehu’s body to Murtala Mohammed General Hospital for medical attention.

Tragically, a medical doctor at the hospital confirmed Shehu’s death.

In accordance with customary procedures, the body of the deceased was released to his grieving family for burial rites.
