The Nigerian House of Representatives has called on the Nigerian Law School to halt the proposed 60 percent increase in school fees for students.

The decision was made on Wednesday after a motion was put forward by Obinna Ginger on behalf of Kingsley Chinda, who was not present to move the motion himself.

Ginger highlighted that the Council of Legal Education had announced the fee hike for the 2023/2024 academic session, raising the cost from N296,000 to ₦476,000.

He expressed concerns that this increase could deter potential students from attending the law school.

As a result, the House has tasked the Committee on Tertiary Education and Services with finding a resolution to the issue and reporting back within two weeks.
