Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have once again targeted critical infrastructure in Yobe State, bringing down two Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) towers in Kasaisa Village, along the Kasaisa-Damaturu-Gujba road.

The attack, which occurred on Friday morning, has plunged the state capital and its environs into darkness.

This incident marks the second attack in three months, just one month after the TCN had repaired the facility and restored electricity to the region.

Captain Shehu Muhammad, Assistant Director of Public Relations Officer, Operation Lafiya Dole Sector 2 Damaturu, confirmed the incident, expressing dismay at the actions of the vandals.

“It’s so unfortunate, the vandals brought down the towers,” he remarked.

In recent times, Boko Haram fighters have intensified their attacks in four areas: Gubja, Gulani, Geidam, and some parts of Damaturu, the state capital.

Residents of Damaturu have voiced their concerns, emphasizing the urgent need for enhanced security measures to safeguard vital infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted power supply in the state.
