Chima Atu

The member representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, has congratulated the Chief Executive Officer of Geometric Power Limited, Professor Barth Nnaji, on the successful commissioning of the Integrated Geometric Power project.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Thursday about the economic importance of the project, Hon. Atu stated that, as the first 3-in-1 power plant in Nigeria, its benefit to the country and the South East region cannot be overemphasized as it would proffer sustainable energy solutions affecting our region.

He stated that such an achievement would boost the economy of the South East and make us compete with the best in the world.

According to him, “The importance of the Geometric Power Plant cannot be overstated. It provides a reliable source of electricity, which is crucial for the economic growth and development of the region. The power plant reduces the dependence on erratic power supply from the national grid and ensures uninterrupted power for businesses and households.”

“By achieving this, Prof. Nnaji has made South East’s economy a blossoming and booming one as it would boost disruptive investment in Aba.”

Hon. Atu called on South East Governors to rally round and give the project the needed support as its contribution to the economy would also boost GDP and job creation.

“The Geometric Power Plant is also a step towards sustainable development. It uses natural gas as its primary fuel source, which is a cleaner and more sustainable alternative to oil. This helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contributes to efforts to combat climate change.”

“The power plant enhances the energy security of the region by providing a reliable and stable source of electricity. This reduces the vulnerability of the region to disruptions in the national grid or fluctuations in fuel prices.”

“The establishment of the power plant has created job opportunities for the local population. This includes both direct employment at the plant and indirect employment in related industries and services. The power plant supports industrial growth in the region, contributing to the overall economic development of the country.”

“In addition to job creation and economic growth, the power plant also contributes to infrastructure development in the region. The construction and operation of the plant require the development of roads, housing, and other facilities, which in turn support the growth of the region.”

“It is important for our Governors to rally round and provide the needed support for this feat to move forward by seeing it as a South East project and not Prof. Barth Nnaji’s project.”
