IPOB Denies Calling For Protest In Southeast

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has denied calling for a protest in the Southeast, even as it maintained that no amount of blackmail or threats would make the group lose focus on the restoration of Biafra.

Spokesperson of the group, Emma Powerful, in a statement, yesterday, distanced the group from some names of hoodlums wanted by the Enugu State government. He said the names listed by Governor Peter Mbah are not members of IPOB.

Powerful said: “IPOB did not call for protest in any part of the Southeast. Nevertheless, whether rumours of protest or not, IPOB won’t succumb to any blackmail or threat. IPOB is focused on the restoration of Biafra independence as a sovereign nation and not against or after any governor. We are not interested in their political blackmail and propaganda”.

Some of the names of the hoodlums listed by the governor are: Mazi Sunday Obodo; Mazi Destiny Okoye; Mazi Chukwura Okey; Mazi Emeka Onu; Mazi Friday Egwu; Mazi Orji Ndu; Mazi Stephen Madu and Mazi Buchi Eze.

“For clarity and record purposes, those Peter Mba linked to IPOB are not IPOB members, so Peter Mba must stop mentioning them as IPOB members. IPOB doesn’t engage criminals.”
