BREAKING: Fire Outbreak At Lagos State University Teaching Hospital

There was an outbreak of fire at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in the Ikeja area on Thursday afternoon. 

SaharaReporters gathered that the fire which broke out in the cyber room of the medical facility was quenched by the operatives of relevant agencies including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). The incident however caused panic among some staff and patients at the facility.

Confirming the incident, Ibrahim Farinloye, the NEMA zonal coordinator, South-West said the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained and no casualty was recorded. 

The fire was suspected to have started from the cyber room. It has been put out. No casualty or anyone injured.

Caused unknown yet,” Farinloye said. 

Barely two weeks ago, SaharaReporters had reported how 

no fewer than three buildings were destroyed by fire in Idumota, Lagos State.

In a video seen by Akelicious on X, the fire was observed destroying properties worth millions of naira in the affected buildings. 

Confirming the incident, in a statement via its official X handle, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service had said it received a distress call about the fire incident around 7:40am, and emergency services swiftly mobilised its personnel to fight the fire.
