The newly unveiled National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), former Senate President David Mark, has acknowledged that unseating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections will be a formidable challenge. However, he reaffirmed the coalition’s readiness to make the necessary sacrifices for Nigeria’s survival and renewal.

Speaking on Wednesday at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja during the official unveiling of the ADC as the new opposition coalition platform, Mark said the movement transcends politics and personal ambition, stressing that it is driven by a collective resolve to rescue Nigeria from decline.

“This coalition goes beyond seeking power; it is about rebuilding Nigeria,” Mark stated. “We are under no illusion that it will be an easy task. However, we are ready to embark on this journey as a sacrifice for our fatherland.”

The former lawmaker warned against the dangers of Nigeria sliding into a one-party state, emphasizing the coalition’s mission to preserve democratic balance and restore effective governance.

“This coalition aims to prevent our country from descending into a one-party state,” he added.
