A policeinspector from the 29 Police Mobile Force in Awka has been killed during a clash with DSS operatives in Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The incident happened around yesterday in the evening, during a stop-and-search operation along the Onitsha/Owerri Expressway, near Danaks Filling Station.
According to reports, the police stopped a Toyota Sienna driving on the wrong lane, not knowing it belonged to DSS officials. The DSS operatives reportedly resisted the search and opened fire, hitting Inspector Bello Abdullah. He was rushed to Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital in Nnewi but was confirmed dead on arrival. The DSS officers fled the scene after the shooting.
