Edo Assembly clears Okpebholo’s eight commissioner-nominees

Monday Okpebholo

The Edo State House of Assembly on Wednesday confirmed eight additional commissioner-nominees sent by Governor Monday Okpebholo.

The confirmation followed the presentation of a report by the House Committee on Rules, Business and Government House, which reviewed the nominees and submitted 11 findings with a single recommendation for their clearance.

While presenting the report, House Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, said all the nominees were indigenes of the state, competent, and qualified to serve.

“I charge the new commissioners to be proactive and work in synergy with the governor to ensure that Edo State moves forward,” he said.

The Speaker, however, expressed concern over the gender imbalance in the list, noting that only one of the eight nominees was female.

After deliberations, the lawmakers, through a voice vote, unanimously confirmed the nominees.

Those cleared are Nosa Adams, Yakubu Oshiorenua, Felix Akhabue, Prof. Omorodion Ignatius, Ohimai Ehijimetor, Eugenia Abdallah, Godwin Afekokhe Eshieshi, and Prince Kassim Afegbua.
