The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC ) in Rivers State has issued a strong caution to residents against double registration in the ongoing voter enrolment exercise.
The Commission warns that offenders will be prosecuted.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Gabriel Yomere, gave the warning today in Port Harcourt. He stressed that INEC maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards the illegal practice of registering more than once.
Professor Yomere outlined that the exercise is open to citizens who have just turned eighteen and those who have not registered before. He urged eligible residents to register early to avoid a last-minute rush, calling voter registration the first and most powerful step toward positive change.
