Award-winning Afrobeat star, Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has opened up about his journey from engineering to music and entrepreneurship, emphasizing that music makes up only a fraction of his income.

Born to a pilot-turned-aviation consultant, Mr Eazi revealed he never grew up poor. After completing his early education in Nigeria, he moved to Ghana where he studied Mechanical Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

At just 23, he returned to Nigeria and secured a role as a mechanical engineer with global oilfield services giant, Schlumberger.

But beyond engineering and music, Mr Eazi had already ventured into entrepreneurship. “I experimented with many ventures—club promotion, e-commerce, and other businesses—long before recognition,” he disclosed.

Today, at 34, Mr Eazi operates companies across 18 African countries, spanning various sectors. He stressed that while music accounts for only 20% of his income, entrepreneurship remains his true passion.

“Alongside my wife Temi, we are building businesses and driving impact. That’s why I always say, I’m more than music—I’m a businessman first,” he said.
