Lagos NURTW Chairman

The Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos State, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Sego, has reacted to reports linking him to inflammatory remarks allegedly made against some groups.

In a statement on Thursday, Sego confirmed that he was invited by the Department of State Services (DSS) earlier in the day over the allegations, which he described as “false and baseless.”

“I have always been a man of peace, and my messages are directed only to our members. Everyone has the right to associate freely and choose their affiliations, and I fully respect that,” he said.

The Lagos NURTW boss maintained that his remarks had been misinterpreted and alleged that the accusations were part of a ploy to destabilize him and the union in the state.

“There is always an enemy in every job, and we know where this is coming from. This is clearly an attempt to destabilize me and the NURTW in Lagos State,” Sego stated.

He confirmed his release on bail and assured members and the public of his commitment to unity and progress within the organization.

Sego also cautioned bloggers and online platforms against spreading unverified reports. “I appreciate online bloggers for informing the public, but I strongly warn you not to be biased. Verify information before posting about me or the NURTW. Spread the truth, remain fair, and report responsibly,” he said.

The Lagos NURTW Chairman further called for peace, freedom of association, and unity across the state.
