PDP’s Internal Crisis Deepens as Lawmakers Continue to Defect to APC

PDP to APC

Amos Daniel, a member of the House of Representatives, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, announced Daniel’s defection on Wednesday after reading his letter on the floor of the lower legislative chamber.

Daniel, who represents Jemaa/Sanga Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, said his decision to leave the PDP was due to the ongoing leadership crisis within the opposition party.

His defection further depletes the PDP’s strength in the National Assembly, as the party continues to struggle with internal divisions and a wave of defections to the APC.

In a similar development, Sagir Koki, the lawmaker representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, has resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Koki announced his resignation in a letter dated November 11, addressed to the chairman of Zaitawa Ward in Kano State.

According to him, “My decision to exit the NNPP becomes necessary because the internal crisis in the party leadership at the centre has made it difficult, if not impossible, for me to continue discharging my duties and provide my people, the good people of Kano Municipal, with the desired representation in the House of Representatives.”

Koki’s defection to another party is, however, yet to be formally announced on the floor of the House.
