$5 Million School Fees: Dangote Questions Source of Farouk Ahmed’s Children’s Education Funds

Billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote has revealed that Farouk Ahmed, CEO of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), allegedly spent $5 million on the secondary education of his four children in Switzerland.

In a paid newspaper advert on Tuesday, Dangote said the amount covered tuition, living expenses, air travel, and upkeep for Faisal Farouk, Farouk Jr., Ashraf Farouk, and Farhana Farouk over six years. According to him, the children attended Montreux School, Aiglon College, Institut Le Rosey, and La Garenne International School.

Dangote broke down the costs, estimating $200,000 per child annually for tuition, airfare, and upkeep totaling $800,000 per year for all four children. Over six years, this amounted to $4.8 million, which Dangote rounded to $5 million.

He also noted tertiary education expenses, estimating $125,000 per year per child over four years, amounting to $2 million in total. Faisal Farouk’s 2025 Harvard MBA alone reportedly cost $210,000, including tuition and living expenses.

Dangote questioned the source of the funds, adding that “Nigerians deserve to know the source of the money paid by a public officer while many parents in his home state of Sokoto cannot afford to pay N10,000 school fees for their children and wards.”
