Two More Rivers Assembly Members Urge Withdrawal of Impeachment Proceedings Against Gov. Fubara

Rivers Assembly Members

Two additional members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have appealed to their colleagues to withdraw the impeachment proceedings initiated against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu.

The lawmakers, Barile Nwakoh, who represents Khana Constituency I, and Emilia Amadi of Obio/Akpor Constituency II, made their positions known on Tuesday, barely 24 hours after two other assembly members publicly called for an end to the impeachment process.

In their separate appeals, the legislators emphasized the need for peace, unity, and stability in Rivers State, urging the House to prioritize governance and the welfare of the people over political disagreements.

They warned that the ongoing impeachment move could deepen political tension in the state and distract the government from delivering on its developmental agenda. According to them, dialogue and reconciliation remain the best options for resolving the current crisis.

The fresh appeals bring the number of lawmakers openly opposing the impeachment proceedings to four, signaling a possible shift within the Assembly as pressure mounts to de-escalate the political standoff.
