American rap icon Lil Wayne has launched what is being described as the first completely free medical clinic in the United States dedicated to people experiencing homelessness, in a move aimed at expanding access to essential healthcare for vulnerable populations.
The clinic provides primary healthcare, mental health support, and basic medical services at no cost, removing financial and administrative barriers that often prevent unhoused individuals from receiving treatment.
Organizers behind the initiative said the project is built on a “dignity-first” healthcare model, focused on meeting patients where they are and offering care without judgment, insurance requirements, or extensive paperwork.
According to them, the clinic was created to address gaps in the healthcare system that disproportionately affect people experiencing homelessness, many of whom struggle with untreated physical and mental health conditions due to cost, stigma, or lack of access.
