“Agreement Is Agreement – It Is Ayamelum Central’s Turn,” Emma Mgbechi Tells Current Mayor of Ayamelum LG

A frontline stakeholder in Ayamelum politics, Amb. Emmanuel Igwebuike Mgbechi (Evang), has reaffirmed that it is the turn of Ayamelum Central to produce the next Chairman of Ayamelum Local Government Area, insisting that the zoning agreement must be respected by all parties.

Speaking during a press interview with Akelicious News correspondents in Awka, Amb. Mgbechi – an APGA stalwart and one of the vocal voices from Ayamelum – stated clearly that the rotational understanding reached by stakeholders leaves no room for ambiguity. According to him, “agreement is agreement,” and the integrity of Ayamelum’s political structure depends on honouring commitments already made.

He noted that the incumbent chairman is fully aware of the zoning arrangement but warned that the attraction of political power should not push anyone to work against the same agreement that facilitated their emergence in office.

Amb. Mgbechi emphasized that his position should not be mistaken for criticism of the current administration, acknowledging that the chairman has performed creditably in office. However, he maintained that performance does not override the collective decision of Ndi Ayamelum, which established a single tenure of two years for each zone under the zoning formula.

“The agreement was made in the overall interest of Ayamelum, for both small and big towns alike,” he said, stressing that equity, peace, and unity can only be sustained when leaders and stakeholders respect established arrangements.

He therefore urged all political actors in Ayamelum to place the long-term stability of the local government above personal ambition, reiterating that adherence to the zoning pact remains the foundation for continued harmony and balanced representation across the area.
