Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reacted with grace and gratitude after losing the Grammy Award to South African singer, Tyla.
Speaking after the award announcement, Davido revealed that his father had encouraged him ahead of the ceremony, reminding him that regardless of the outcome, his impact on music remains legendary.
“My daddy told me, no matter what happens at the Grammys, you’re still a legend. All I ever wanted was for my music to be played on TV and radio, and it grew into this. I’m truly grateful to be recognised and nominated,” Davido said.
The singer, who has been a major force in the global rise of Afrobeats, expressed appreciation to the Recording Academy for the nomination, describing it as a milestone in his career.
