Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has called out religious leaders whom he accused of misleading their followers politically while claiming divine intervention will save the country.
Reacting to reports of the killing of nearly 200 people in Kwara State, Falz expressed frustration over what he described as misplaced priorities and growing insensitivity among some Nigerians.
In a strongly worded statement, the musician criticised the involvement of celebrities and social media influencers who, according to him, continue to push narratives such as “Relax, Tinubu is fixing Nigeria,” despite ongoing violence and insecurity across the country.
Falz also took aim at religious institutions, accusing some pastors and church leaders of allowing politicians and their supporters to campaign in places of worship, thereby influencing congregants to vote for candidates he described as “the wrong choices.”
“I don’t know when we are going to wake up,” Falz said, lamenting what he sees as the dangerous mix of religion, politics, and propaganda in Nigeria.
The outspoken entertainer, who has repeatedly used his platform to address governance, insecurity, and human rights issues, warned that relying solely on religious rhetoric without accountability would continue to worsen the nation’s challenges.
