The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has successfully concluded its state congress, culminating in the election of substantive state executives, following months of reconciliation and strategic party building.
Barr. Ben Nwoye, Chairman of the APC Enugu State Caretaker Committee, delivered a heartfelt appreciation speech during the event, highlighting the journey of unity and inclusivity that characterized the committee’s tenure.
Addressing dignitaries including the Governor, Deputy Governor, State House of Assembly leadership, commissioners, local government chairmen, party leaders, and delegates, Nwoye emphasized that the committee’s primary objective was to reconcile differences, rebuild trust, and reposition the party for victory across the state.
“Today, I can proudly say that we are handing over a united APC,” Nwoye stated, noting that the party successfully integrated splinter groups and new members, including former members of the PDP, ensuring inclusivity and dialogue over division.
He singled out the Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for providing steady leadership and guidance throughout the process. “His Excellency’s support created the enabling environment that allowed this reconciliation and rebuilding process to succeed,” Nwoye added.
Nwoye also expressed gratitude to Prince Lawrence Ezeh, the Commissioner for Science and Innovation, for donating vehicles used by the committee, as well as to local government chairmen for mobilizing grassroots support during the e-registration exercise, which he described as a resounding success.
The Caretaker Committee chairman highlighted that over 6,000 executives had emerged from the wards, local governments, and districts prior to the state congress. “What we are doing here today is simply completing the tip of that pyramid — the final layer that crowns months of hard work and coordination,” he said.
He congratulated all members of the party and urged the newly elected executives to remain focused and committed to the APC’s goals. Nwoye also reaffirmed the party’s determination to secure victories in the upcoming elections, including the re-election of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Mbah.
“Let us remain united. Let us remain focused. Let us remember that victory is only possible where unity thrives,” Nwoye concluded.
