Big Brother Naija season 7 winner, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has opened up about her difficult upbringing and the reason she developed a strong dislike for her birth name, Blessing.
Speaking during an interview with BEYONDWITHEZINNE, the reality TV star shared emotional details about her childhood and teenage years, revealing that life was extremely tough for her while growing up.
According to her, she often felt deprived of love and support, which made her question the meaning of the name given to her by her parents. Phyna explained that despite being named Blessing, she struggled to see any real blessing in her life at the time, as she constantly felt like she had to beg for affection and acceptance from people around her.
“The name given to me by my parents is Blessing, the reason for me h@ting that name was because I don’t see any sense of blessing in my life. It felt like I was always begging for love, family love, friendship even in relationships.”
“All aspect of life for me was very crazy. Even as a teenager i didnt get anything from my parent. But I just knew I was going to be big and they will watch me on screen”
Despite the struggles she described, Phyna said she always believed she would one day become successful and that the same people who once overlooked her would eventually watch her on their screens.
