Nigerian music star Mr Real has voiced concern over the worsening situation in Nigeria, saying the constant stream of troubling news has made it difficult for him to focus on releasing new music.
In a statement shared online, the singer said he wakes up to disturbing reports almost every day, adding that the situation in the country has left him worried about the direction things are heading.
According to him, the growing insecurity and violence across the country make it challenging for artistes to promote entertainment while many citizens continue to face serious challenges.
“I wake up to terrible news every day. I’m even scared to drop songs because of the terrible things happening in Nigeria. This country is burning,” he said.
Mr Real also criticized what he described as the commercialization of insecurity, suggesting that some individuals have turned the crisis into a business opportunity.
Despite the challenges, he pointed out that many Nigerians still continue with nightlife and other social activities, which he said reflects the complex reality citizens face amid the country’s ongoing security concerns.
