Former presidential aide and social commentator Reno Omokri has publicly denied claims that he privately reached out to media entrepreneur Dele Momodu to seek reconciliation, insisting that no such attempt was ever made.
In a strongly worded statement addressed to Momodu, Omokri said he had “never reached out privately for reconciliation”, challenging the Ovation publisher to present evidence if such a claim existed. He also stated that he keeps detailed records of his private communications and warned that he would provide proof if necessary.
Omokri explained that the last time he contacted Momodu was not to seek settlement or publicity, but to offer what he described as “brotherly counsel” about health risks associated with frequent air travel. According to him, he advised Momodu to take precautions such as using blood thinners to reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a condition that can occur during frequent flights.
He said the advice was motivated by the loss of a close friend who died due to complications linked to the condition.
The former presidential aide also criticised Momodu for allegedly misrepresenting the conversation, saying it was unfortunate that a gesture made out of concern was being portrayed as an attempt to apologise or seek publicity.
Omokri further dismissed suggestions that he would beg Momodu publicly, claiming he has a larger social media following and greater influence. He cited his recognition in online rankings and media lists as evidence of his prominence.
The exchange adds to an ongoing public disagreement between the two prominent figures, both known for their active presence in political commentary and media discussions.
