
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a Corps Member in Abeokuta, Ogun State, amid reports of possible involvement by a staff member.
In a statement issued by Caroline Embu, Director of Information and Public Relations, the NYSC confirmed that the incident is under investigation by the appropriate security agencies. The staff member reportedly implicated has been taken into custody as part of the ongoing probe.
The NYSC emphasized its commitment to a strict code of conduct for both staff and Corps Members and stated that any misconduct or abuse of office will not be tolerated. The management assured the public that it is fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities to ensure justice is served and the circumstances surrounding the death are thoroughly established.
While investigations continue, the NYSC urged the public to avoid speculation and allow due process to take its course. The statement reaffirmed that the welfare, safety, and dignity of Corps Members remain a top priority for the Scheme.
